Chakra awakening, or opening, is a highly controversial subject, with two distinctly divergent schools of thought, and the answer might be, pro or con, depending upon how you look at it. There are seven major Chakras within the body, and these energy centers store and transmit energy, in particular, the energy of emotions and memories.
Let’s examine the school of thought that would say yes to assisting an inexperienced person to have a Chakra awakening. There is a galaxy of information, some of it enlightened knowledge, available from enlightened reiki masters, and meditation and yoga teachers. There are many books, mp3’s, CD’s and DVD’s and video downloads on the topic of Chakras, by a variety of sources, not all of which are really enlightened, let alone really expert, or have the best interest of anyone in mind, other than the profits of the publisher. All of this knowledge is readily available, and it may be impossible for the beginner or neophyte to make a wise choice, or to really understand how to use it.
This brings us to the flip side; some reiki masters and yoga and meditation teachers don’t think it’s a good idea for the good, and bad, energies contained within the seven Chakras, to be casually explored by amateurs, without an enlightened teacher there to guide. Uninitiated opening of the Chakras could literally be like open up a can of worms, flooding the unprepared and unsuspecting spiritual explorer with unwanted and uncomfortable emotions and memories.
Also, the amount of previous meditation or yoga practice a devotee has is vital in being able to manage feelings, such as anger, fear, lust and depression that can come surging to consciousness, as a result of a Chakra awakening. This philosophy believes if a seeker is ready for a Chakra opening, that is something to be determined by the teacher, after at least two years of practice. One of the results regular yoga or meditation practitioners experience is, that they can better handle their feelings than most. They also realize that they can’t be enlightened every minute of every day, and are more accepting, not only of the faults and failings of other, but those of themselves.
If you feel you need to experience a Chakra awakening, be honest with yourself, and decide first if you have the emotional centeredness and strength to handle it. If the answer is you don’t, then consult with a knowledgeable reiki master, or a yoga or meditation teacher. If it is not possible to work with a knowledgeable reiki master, or a yoga or meditation teacher, then try good Chakra balancing mp3s, produced by the best and most enlightened masters.
