There are seven main chakras in the body, running along the spine. The chakras are energy centers, with each chakra correlating to specific parts of the body, associated ailments and physical dysfunctions. Each Chakra also governs certain aspects of our mental and emotional lives. When we have an emotional issue, it creates weakness in our bodies. But if we can release the stagnant emotional energy from our bodies, it can begin to heal the ailments and discomforts of our bodies. If you have pain, discomfort, or reoccurring emotions, keep reading, and you may find that a particular chakra is blocked.
The Root Chakra is situated at the base of the spine. Physical imbalances in the root chakra may manifest as problems in the feet, legs, rectum, the immune system, prostate gland and male reproductive organs. Also, problems such as arthritis,sciatica, knee pain, eating disorders, and constipation can be rooted in the Root Chakra.
Emotional imbalances based in the Root Chakra can include feelings affected by our basic survival needs; food, shelter, and the ability to provide for life’s necessities.
When the Root Chakra is in balance, you feel supported, grounded, with a sense of safety in the physical world. The lesson of the Root chakra is survival, and the concept that you have a right to be here.
The Sacral Chakra is located two inches below the navel. Physical issues associated with the Sacral Chakra are sexual in nature, female reproductive issues, kidney problems, urinary tract issues, pelvic and hip problems, as well as lower back pain.
Emotional imbalances associated with the Sacral Chakra include commitment, and personal relationships, and our ability to express emotion. Our ability to enjoy life, our creativity, and our sexuality are associated with the Sacral Chakra.
Fears of impotence and sexual frigidity, betrayal in relationships, and addictions reflect a dysfunction within the Sacral Chakra. When the Sacral chakra is in balance, there is crativity, an ability to take risks, we are committed to our emotional relationships. The lesson served by the Sacral chakra is to honor others in our relationships.
The Solar Plexus Chakra is located three inches above your navel, in the center of your solar plexus. Physical issues connected to the Solar Plexus Chakra are digestive issues, liver problems, high blood pressure, diabetes, chronic fatigue, and pancreas and gallbladder problems.
Emotional issues related to the Solar Plexus Chakra include a feeling of loss of personal power and low self esteem, and a fear of criticism, rejection, and an over concern with physical appearance.
When the Solar Plexus Chakra is in balance, there is a feeling of self respect, and of compassion for the self. There is a feeling of self control, assertiveness, and self confidence. The lesson of the Solar Plexus chakra is self acceptance.
The Heart Chakra is located within the heart. Physical problems can include heart disease, lung disease, asthma, breast issues, the lymphatic system, the upper back and shoulders, as well as arm and wrist pain.
Emotional imbalances within the Heart Chakra are issues of the heart; over mothering, emotional suffocation, loneliness, feelings of abandonment, jealousy, anger, bitterness.
When the Heart chakra is in balance we feel grateful, joyful, loving and compassionate, forgiveness flows freely, and feeling of trust are gained. The lesson of the Heart chakra is Love.
The Throat Chakra is located in the throat. Physical problems include sore throats, laryngitis, thyroid issues, ear infections, facial problems, and neck and shoulder pain.
Emotional imbalances within the Throat Chakra include an inability to express the self, and poor communication skills, both written and spoken. There is a feeling of powerlessness or a lack of choice, a lack of willpower or feeling out of control.
When the Throat chakra is in balance, there is a free flow of words, self expression and good communication. We fearlessly speak truth, and we are good listeners. The lesson of the Throat chakra is to speak your truth.
The Third Eye Chakra is located between the eyebrows, in the center of the head. Physical ailments can include blurred vision, headaches, sinus problems, seizures, and hearing loss.
Emotional dysfunctions related to the Third Eye Chakra include emotional moodiness and volatility, an inability to look at oneself, and to learn from others. Day dreaming and “living in another world” are the escape mechanisms of an inbalanced Third Eye.
When the Third Eye chakra is in balance we feel clarity, focus, and we can discern what is truth, and what is illusion, we receive insight and wisdom. The lesson of the Third Eye chakra is to percieve the truth behind the veil.
The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head. Physical problems can include the inability to learn, depression, and an over sensitivity to light and sound.
Emotional problems associated with the Crown Chakra include encompass issues of self knowledge and personal power arising from a habit of rigid beliefs concerning religion and spirituality. Feelings of confusion, and an inability to think critically.
When the Crown Chakra is in balance, there is an unshakeable trust in our inner guidance, and we we live in the present moment. The lesson of the Crown chakra is to live mindfully.
